Mazzulla has impressed the entire basketball world during the 2025-26 NBA season. The team holds a 38-20 record, good for second in the Eastern Conference, despite Jayson Tatum’s ongoing absence with a torn Achilles and multiple key roster departures from the previous year.
Mazzulla has maximized the contributions of Jaylen Brown and a deep supporting cast of emerging wings and veterans. The Celtics rank second in offensive rating while allowing the fewest points per game in the league. This success earned Mazzulla Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for December, his fifth such honor overall.
In his broader NBA coaching career, which began as interim in 2022 before becoming permanent in 2023, Mazzulla has amassed a 220-83 regular-season record.
He captured the 2024 NBA title, making him the youngest coach to win a championship since 1970. Known for his adaptive strategies and emphasis on collective effort, Mazzulla has guided Boston to sustained excellence, including a 61-21 mark in 2024-25. His work this season stands out as particularly masterful amid adversity.
