The Minnesota Timberwolves have resumed action following Anthony Edwards being named MVP of the All-Star Game eleven days ago. They have a 9 pm CT tip on Thursday night while out on the west coast facing the Los Angeles Clippers.

At 36-23, there’s no denying the 2025-26 Minnesota Timberwolves are deeply flawed. Certain NBA insiders are already out on them making it back to the Western Conference Finals, and there’s a reason president of basketball operations Tim Connelly went so hard after Giannis Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline.

Kyle Anderson returns to Minnesota Timberwolves

Instead, he got Ayo Dosunmu, but the Wolves have continued adding more familiar faces since. Mike Conley is already back, and to slow things down for the stretch run, former point forward glue guy Kyle Anderson is reportedly returning too.

This is Kyle Anderson’s 12th year in the NBA, after being selected 30th overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2014 NBA Draft. Now, he is set to return to one of the six teams he’s previously worn a uniform for.

Signed by the Jazz over the offseason, Anderson played just 20 games in Utah, where he averaged 7.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game (20.1 MPG), before he was traded to Memphis at the deadline. Kyle played just four games as a Grizzly, averaging 9.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.

Known affectionately by his Slo Mo nickname, Anderson was a fan favorite at the Target Center from 2022-24, where he played 148 games in a Timberwolves uniform, averaging 7.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game (25.3 MPG).

MN Timberwolves stacking veteran presence

If he’s going to get anywhere near that type of run from Chris Finch his second time around, it will likely come at the expense of Terrence Shannon Jr. and Jaylen Clark.

I fully expect Kyle Anderson to get meaningful minutes for the Wolves. Some decline but a solid contributor. I’d see him taking the Shannon/Clark minutes

Jan. 1: 22 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks

There’s still some juice in the tank 🔥

While we’re past the point of Minnesota being able to add serious talent, there are glue guys that could provide benefit behind the scenes, and maybe a little on the court.

Anderson slots in among the guys like Conley and Joe Ingles, but his on-court presence could present more upside than both those guys combined, at this point in their careers.
