Dallas Mavericks rookie guard Ryan Nembhard will reportedly be converted to a two-year standard contract, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

Nembhard signed a two-way contract with the Mavericks last year after going undrafted out of Gonzaga. He is averaging 6.7 points, 4.9 assists and 1.8 rebounds while shooting 37.9% from 3-point range in 38 appearances with the team.

To facilitate the signing, the Mavericks on Saturday waived guard Tyus Jones, who was acquired from the Washington Wizards on Feb. 5 as part of a three-team trade. Jones began the season with the Orlando Magic and was dealt to the Charlotte Hornets on Feb. 4.

Nembhard had made 17 starts with the Mavericks this season, averaging 9.9 points, 6.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds on 44.4% shooting from 3-point range. He scored in double figures in a season-high four consecutive games from Dec. 1-6.

During that streak, the 22-year-old became the first undrafted rookie in the modern draft era (1967) to record at least 25 points and 10 assists in a game without a turnover. He is also the first undrafted rookie with 15 points and 10 assists in consecutive games in history.

The Mavericks reportedly committed to signing Nembhard to a standard contract earlier this season after a productive run with the team. The organization is excited about his potential and will be eager to watch his continued development on the court.
