Lu Dort of the Oklahoma City Thunder is the latest player on the team’s injury report.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets had a chippy overtime thriller in Oklahoma on Friday, February 27.

During the fourth quarter, OKC Thunder veteran Lu Dort was ejected from the game after he collected a Flagrant 2 foul call.

After tripping up Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic in blindside fashion, both teams got involved in a dust-up. Dort was the only player tossed from the game.

Following the matchup, one NBA fan took to Reddit with a strong theory: “Lu Dort was on the court just to injure Jokic, and you couldn’t tell me otherwise,” user Structureofcells said.

“This is the natural outcome of letting the Thunder get away with everything,” MrONegative wrote.

“Literally, the Warriors several years ago with Zaza and Kerr. They did what they did but also got calls like crazy,” DejaJaws responded.

“He has so many dirty plays and has directly injured multiple people. The NBA needs to actually call the fouls he makes else he’ll just keep getting away with it,” Creative_Expert_4052 added.

The Flagrant call on Dort was the sixth of his NBA career. The ejection was his fourth.

Dort hasn’t fully earned an “enforcer” title since he’s been in the league, but he’s picked up his fair share of accusations as a “dirty” player. His first ejection occurred in 2021-2022, when he elbowed an opponent.

While Dort hasn’t had a clean sheet since that incident, the Jokic incident was his first ejection since 2023.

“LU dort would be in piston uniform in the future,” Stephenson99overall joked.

“I hope I am wrong because I hate injuries, but I think Lu Dort will pull a Zaza Pachulia on a team’s star player in the Playoffs. Dude was just out there to foul and instigate,” macarolls said.

“Willing to bet OKC has a bounty system like The Saints in the NFL,” Wrathb0ne added.

The NBA will have to review the incident before making another call on Dort. There is a chance that the ejection, along with a Flagrant 2 on record, could be enough for Dort, as the situation didn’t escalate too much.

Dort, a 26-year-old former undrafted prospect, has been a key player on the Thunder throughout their championship rise.

In 2024-2025, Dort appeared in 71 games for the Thunder. He averaged 10.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. He finished the season fourth in the Defensive Player of the Year race and was All-Defensive.

After defeating the Denver Nuggets 127-121 on Friday night, the Thunder improved to 46-15 on the season.

This year, Dort has contributed with averages of 8.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists through 50 games.
