Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs saw their 11-game winning streak end at the hands of the New York Knicks, largely due to a huge performance from Mikal Bridges on both ends of the floor.
Bridges scored 25 points, his third-highest total this season. He also added five rebounds, two assists and five steals.

It was a collective effort for the Knicks, as all five starters scored in double digits. Jalen Brunson recorded 24 points and seven assists, while Karl-Anthony Towns added a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double.
The Spurs were paced by Wembanyama, who had 25 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks. He also committed seven turnovers.
“I was surprised, yeah,” he said post-game when asked about the Knicks’ physicality.
“It feels like they’re a good basketball team, they are good actual basketball players. They’re not the nastiest, ugly team, you know? They’re not an ugly team to watch, but they made our game ugly.”

Although he was surprised, the two-time All-Star remained calm. He believes there is a positive takeaway despite the blowout loss.
“I think it’s good for us to see this kind of adversity,” he continued. “We want to play the best teams. This is a top playoff team. They know what it’s like. They gave us a good showing today.”
The Spurs remain the second-best team in the Western Conference, 2.5 games behind the No. 1 Oklahoma City Thunder. There is also a clear separation between them and the No. 3 Houston Rockets, who trail by 5.5 games.
