The Minnesota Timberwolves eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs as Anthony Edwards looked as dominant as ever.
Edwards, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, looked like a superstar as the Timberwolves needed just five games to advance past the Lakers in the Western Conference. He often performed like the best player on the court in a series that also featured LeBron James and Luka Doncic, which was no easy task.
As he moved on to the semifinals in the Western Conference, the 23-year-old three-time NBA All-Star was seen having a brief conversation with James.
James, who has won four NBA championships in his professional career, played alongside Edwards for Team USA en route to a gold medal in the 2024 Olympics.
He told Edwards to “make that next step now” after the series, which is sage advice from the NBA veteran.
Edwards already knows what it takes to win a gold medal but if he keeps playing at the caliber he is at right now, he could potentially win his first NBA championship sooner rather than later as well.
