The former All-American wing has played 11 total minutes at the NBA level, all since signing a 10-day contract with the team last month. He’s totaled two points, two rebounds and one assist during that time, while shooting 0-of-2 from the field. Despite that 10-day contract expiring last week, Tonje appears set to remain with the NBA club; he signed a new two-way deal on Sunday.
Tonje carried momentum from his standout senior season with the Badgers to the G League, averaging 18 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 32 appearances for the Utah Jazz’s affiliate to start the year. He then averaged 25 points and 5 1/2 rebounds across two appearances with the Maine Celtics after being traded to the franchise.
The Wisconsin great and the second-place Celtics are back in action on Wednesday night against the Charlotte Hornets.
