With the NBA draft right around the corner, now is the time to look at some past drafts and see what the Philadelphia 76ers have done in their history. The Sixers have selected some big-time players in the past who have become an important part of the fabric of the franchise’s history.
This next edition turns to the 2011 draft when the Sixers had the No. 16 pick and selected USC big man Nikola Vucevic. He spent exactly one season in Philadelphia averaging 5.5 points and 4.8 rebounds while playing in 51 games including 15 starts. He flashed a lot of potential and was then sent to the Orlando Magic in the 2012 blockbuster deal that sent Andrew Bynum to the City of Brotherly Love.
Vucevic blossomed into an All-Star with the Magic as he averaged 17.6 points and 10.8 rebounds while playing in 591 games with 566 starts across 8.5 seasons in Orlando. He was then traded to the Chicago Bulls at the deadline in 2021 and has been with Chicago since. He will be entering his 15th season in 2025-26.
