There may be another suitor for veteran Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday this offseason. As the Celtics will likely try to clear salary this summer to diminish the punishing incoming payroll and tax bill their roster would be set to incur thanks to the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA), Holiday has been floated as one of the more likely players to be on the move to such an end.

And now MassLive’s Brian Robb reports that “Holiday is expected to be pursued by several teams on the trade market,” lining up with similar reports from the likes of the Stein Line’s Marc Stein, and “the Los Angeles Clippers are one team expected to show interest in the 34-year-old guard this offseason.”

Astute readers will recall that the Clippers were one of the ball clubs pursuing the UCLA alum before the Celtics successfully dealt for Holiday in 2023, so the rumbles make sense from what we know about what their front office values in terms of team building.

Whether the two teams would be able to put together an offer that would make sense for both sides is another matter.

But it is a possibility to monitor as the offseason unfolds, and a potential point of leverage for Boston to use in negotiations with other teams should they elect to consider moving on from Holiday.
