LOS ANGELES (KAIT) – An Arkansas State great recorded milestones in the NBA.
Norchad Omier made his debut with the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, bringing down a rebound in the 4th quarter. He scored his first bucket late Wednesday night. Omier had 2 points and 3 rebounds as the Clippers beat the Pacers 130-107.
The Clippers signed Norchad Omier to a two-way contract on February 20th. He played in 31 games for the Cleveland Charge in the NBA G-League this season, averaging 18 points, 11 rebounds, & 2 assists per game. Omier recorded double doubles in 24 games. The Nicaragua native was in the spotlight at NBA All-Star Weekend, playing in the NBA G League Next Up Game.
Omier was the 2021 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, the 2022 Sun Belt Player of the Year, and the 2022 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year at Arkansas State. He played in 52 games in his Red Wolves career, averaging 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Omier transferred to Miami, playing in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. He averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Hurricanes reached the 2023 Final Four. He suited up for Baylor in his final season of eligibility. He averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds in the 2024-25 season. The Bear landed on the 2025 All Big-12 First Team.
