The Brooklyn Nets have four first-round picks to use in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft and that presents them with the opportunity to add plenty of young talent to the roster. Brooklyn came away from the Lottery with the eighth overall pick in the Draft and while that was a disappointing result, they still have other picks that they have to think about.
Much has been made about who the Nets will take with the No. 8 and with the amount of depth in this class, there are a growing number of players that Brooklyn could be interested in at that spot. However, the Nets also have the 19th overall pick in the Draft. It’s their first pick outside of the Lottery and it seems like they could take a chance on a player who has quite the ceiling.

“Jase Richardson’s 6’0.5″ barefoot measurements could scare a few teams, particularly since his skill set is better suited for the 2-guard position,” Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman wrote in his assessment of Michigan State guard Jase Richardson. Jase, the son of former NBA player Jason Richardson, profiles to be more of a scorer than a facilitator at the next level and that could prove difficult to project what his place will be in the NBA.
“However, his shooting, touch, finishing and decision-making may all be sharp enough for Richardson to get by and still thrive while undersized,” Wasserman continued. Richardson, listed at 6-foot-1 and 178 pounds, saw his draft stock rise after averaging 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 49.3% from the field and 41.2% from three-point land during his freshman season with the Spartans.
Richardson, who Wasserman compares to Houston Rockets guard Reed Sheppard, seems to fit the mold of a player who won’t be too disruptive on the defensive end, but could be a tough guard offensively if he is able to carry his scoring and shooting ability to the next level. Richardson is smaller than what most NBA teams would want, even for point guards, and it seems like he will have to prove that he plays bigger than his height and weight indicate.
