Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green went off on Paul George for his comments.

Over the past few years, there has been growing tension among some sections of the NBA community about how the NBA is becoming a scorer-friendly league.

Keeping that in mind, it has become difficult for defenders to stop players on the offensive end of the floor.

Thus, leading to insanely high-scoring games. On top of that, some believe this new era has led to the extinction of lockdown defenders, including Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George.

There have been a plethora of discussions about George’s decline since joining the 76ers last summer, but let’s keep that on the back burner.

Instead, focus on what PG13 claimed about the NBA no longer having lockdown defenders.

“Our league—the days of stoppers, those are pretty much gone. The TAs [Tony Allen types], you know, even myself—I call myself a defender—there are guys that I can’t do anything with,” George claimed.

“I just have to hope I’m there enough for this to be a tough shot for him. He might make the shot, but I did all I could to make it a tough possession for him. You just got to tip your hat,” he added.

While George was a good defender during the prime of his career, also earning 4x All-Defensive team selections, he no longer fits into that category.

Draymond Green blasts Paul George for making ‘huge mistake’

George’s comments about NBA defenders reached Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, who takes pride in himself as one of the best defenders in the league right now.

The 4x NBA champ reacted to George putting himself in the same conversation as ex-NBA star Tony Allen and it’s safe to say Green wasn’t happy with that comment.

“I think Paul George is making a huge mistake putting himself in the same category as Tony Allen. Don’t tell me those kind of guys aren’t around anymore,” Green said.

“Maybe Paul George can’t identify them because he ain’t ever been that, and that’s OK. To think they’re not there and to say they’re not there is disrespectful to these guys that I see coming,” Dray suggested.

Draymond cited the Thompson twins and Toumani Camara as up-and-coming lockdown defenders after his vicious rant.

Even Green’s co-host Baron Davis took a shot at George, stating: “He is not a lockdown defender.”
