The New York Knicks’ G-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks, executed a notable minor-league trade last Monday.

The franchise cut ties with a 6-foot-5 G-League champion and ex-Indiana Pacers guard in a deal that landed it a 26-year-old and draft capital from the Iowa Wolves (Minnesota Timberwolves’ G-League affiliate).

“We have acquired the returning player rights to Izaiah Brockington and future picks in a trade with the Iowa Wolves,” Westchester stated on X/Twitter.

Taylor’s NBA career got off to a promising start following a productive collegiate career at Austin Peay. The 26-year-old averaged 9.6 points and 5.2 rebounds with the Pacers as a rookie. While Taylor has appeared in 65 additional NBA contests since his first campaign in the big leagues, he’s failed to replicate a similar level of success.

Taylor has been a standout contributor in the G-League, averaging 19.3 points and 9.6 rebounds in 43 total games (Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Windy City Bulls, and Stockton Kings) while shooting 57.1% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.

Westchester acquired the returning player rights to Taylor Last October, allowing them to include him in their recent trade despite him signing with the Brisbane Bullets (NBL) two months later.

With Taylor failing to compete in a game with Westchester this season, it’s difficult to imagine the Knicks’ G-League affiliate ever regretting the move.
