How far does the return of Jayson Tatum from injury elevate the Boston Celtics this season? The St. Louis native has finally returned to action with the Celtics last week after a lengthy rehab process to address the Achilles tendon injury that Tatum suffered against the New York Knicks in the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals.

And defying the odds (and the expected return date while we are at it), the Duke alum looks like a real impact player for Boston if not quite his former All-NBA self. Some of that will return in time – and perhaps faster than expected, given everything we have seen from Tatum to date. Just how far will his return help carry the Celtics?
