In Tuesday’s night loss to the San Antonio Spurs, the Boston Celtics lost superstar and MVP candidate Jaylen Brown after he was ejected while picking up two technical fouls. Brown was irate after there was a no-call when he was shoved by Spurs guard Stephon Castle and got into it with referee Tyler Ford, who gave Boston’s star time to air out his grievances before he ended up hitting him with a technical foul.

After the first technical, things appeared to be calming down momentarily, but Brown went back towards Ford, pointing at the official and was then given his second technical foul and ejected from the contest. Ford was not the official who ejected Brown however, it was Suyash Mehta who delivered the big call against him.

Following the Spurs win, Ford spoke in the post-game pool report and discussed the situation with Brown, saying that the Celtics forward’s aggressiveness towards officials is what led to his ejection. Ford was also asked why there was no foul called on Castle for shoving Brown, and said that in live play, they did not observe any illegal contact.

It was just the second ejection of Brown’s career, but it came in a big game matchup for Boston, as they were swept by the San Antonio Spurs in their two-game season series. Brown and the Celtics will look to get back in the win column on Thursday night when they travel to Oklahoma City to take on the reigning NBA champion Thunder team, and last year’s league MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
