Additionally, Adebayo’s No. 13 jersey was put on sale for $83 inside the Kaseya Center.

It was a special game for the Heat star. After the game, he took a moment to reflect on his achievement. Adebayo also talked about what it felt like to pass his idol, the late Kobe Bryant, who scored 81 points in January 2006.

“To me, it’s wondering what he would say seeing somebody score 83. Obviously, you’ve seen 60, 70, but to be at 83 and pass him— in my mind it’s like, ‘What would he say to me?’ I’ve always wanted to have a conversation with him, but he’d probably say, ‘Do it again’,” the Heat star said.

“It’s just a surreal moment being in the company of somebody you idolized growing up.”

Bryant’s spot as the player with the second-most points in a single game stood for 20 years. He did it against the Toronto Raptors in front of the Los Angeles crowd, leading the Lakers to a 122-104 win.

Adebayo isn’t known to be a scorer. Earlier in the 2025-26 season, he had a shooting slump from Nov. 19 to Dec. 23. During that stretch, the big man averaged 17.0 points on 29.3% shooting from deep. However, he found his groove against the Wizards and made the most of it.
