The Maine Celtics will wear special EmpowHER-themed jerseys on Friday night against the Grand Rapids Gold, the Denver Nuggets’ G League affiliate.

The jerseys were designed by Boston Celtics senior designer, Jacky Arndt. The uniform pattern is inspired by the first women’s basketball court, designed by Senda Berenson in 1893. Its color palette includes green (to represent hope, new beginnings, and growth), gold (to represent sunflowers, a symbol of the women’s rights movement), and white (for equality).

The jerseys debuted earlier this month, in a March 1st game against the Windy City Bulls. The Maine Celtics will provide the Girl Scouts of Maine with game-worn jerseys for fundraising purposes.

The Maine Celtics are 14-16 on the season

The Celtics have been led by Ron Harper Jr (24.3 points per game), John Tonje (22.6 points), and Amari Williams (19.1 points, 10.1 rebounds). But all three players have also spent time in Boston, with Williams being converted to a standard deal, and Harper Jr. becoming a rotational player for Joe Mazzulla as of late.

Max Shulga (16.2 points, 7.2 assists), Kendall Brown (15.1 points, 4.7 rebounds), and Jalen Bridges (14.5 points) have become key pieces as well, under head coach Phil Pressey.
