To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Warriors Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the first of one players who wore the No. 53 jersey for the Warriors.
That player would be Golden State big man alum Alton Lister. After ending his college career at Arizona State, Lister was picked up with the 21st overall selection of the 1981 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Dallas, Texas native played the first five seasons of his pro career with Milwaukee. He also played for the Seattle SuperSonics before he was dealt to the Dubs in 1989. His stay with the team lasted until he was cut in 1993.
During his time suiting up for the Warriors, Lister wore only jersey No. 53 and put up 5.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
