Despite a late push from the lowly Washington Wizards, the Boston Celtics beat the Wiz 111-100 at TD Garden this past Saturday (March 14) evening. As they tend to do, the Celtics won the shot margin 93-84, and winning the battle of the boards 55-38 helped Boston fend off Washington despite shooting just 26% from beyond the arc.
The contest was actually a close one early as well, with the Wiz keeping things close throughout the first frame until the Celtics broke the game open in the second quarter, eventually leading by as much as 30 points. But a Washington squad likely still smarting from Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo hanging 83 points on them earlier this week battled back, and forced the Celtics to bring their starters back in the final frame to secure the victory for Boston.
