MANILA, Philippines — Ahead of her Miami Open return, tennis rising star Alex Eala reunited with another Filipino sports icon, Fil-American Erik Spoelstra, the head coach of the Miami Heat.
On Tuesday, the Miami Heat posted a feature video on their social media pages showing Eala first meeting Spoelstra in 2023 at 17 years old, along with a montage of photos of the WTA No. 29 and the 3-time NBA champ.
Now 20, Eala reunited with Spoelstra ahead of her Miami Open return, posing together for pictures again.
Eala is expected to play her first match (round of 64) at the Miami Open on Saturday.
