The Philadelphia 76ers will be looking to move forward in the offseason after a miserable year in 2024-25 as injuries decimated the roster. The Sixers do have the No. 3 pick in their possession so that is what will be helpful for them as they look to bounce back.

With that being said, one has to wonder what free agency will look like for Philadelphia. The Sixers have 11 free agents they have to take care of. The cap space will be a bit limited in 2025 after the big spending spree in 2024, so don’t expect the Sixers to be major players in free agency, but they will be looking to keep a number of key free agents.

Up next in this free agency series is veteran guard Eric Gordon who had his season cut short after just 39 games due to right wrist surgery. Here is a look at Gordon’s free agency status as Philadelphia moves forward:

Gordon’s free agency

Free agency status: Player option for $3.4 million

2024-25 stats: 6.8 ppg, 1.7 apg, 1.2 rpg, 42.6% FG, 40.9% 3FG

Prediction: Stays

Reason for the prediction

Again, when it comes to the players with their own options, the Sixers do expect them to exercise the options to make their return in 2025-26. Gordon is still a productive player. While he appears to have lost a step, especially defensively, he can still stick a triple when left open which allows the offense to be spaced properly and the Sixers can run things on that end. He seemed to be slow to figure out his role and his fit within this offensive system, but he really turned it on before his injury. He shot a ridiculous 52.6% from deep in 17 games in the month of January as he began to find the rhythm that made him such an elite shooter in this league, but unfortunately, he had to undergo surgery on his right wrist, and his season was cut short.

The Sixers will have a role for Gordon. When he is getting consistent minutes and is able to be in the rotation on a regular basis, he is able to produce for this group. Coach Nick Nurse should feel comfortable being able to give him a look and receive elite 3-point shooting out of the veteran from Indiana. One should fully expect him to return to the roster.
