NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Dallas Mavericks by 18 points Monday night in a game where 10 of 11 players who saw the court scored — but it was the player with the fewest points who drew the most attention.
Missi dominates in the low block
Center Yves Missi started and played 28 minutes, finishing with just four points. His impact came elsewhere: 10 rebounds and five blocks gave New Orleans a presence in the low block that coach James Borrego said the team needed.
“He affects our defense in so many ways, but love his energy, his spirit,” Borrego said. “He’s becoming that rim protector for us. He’s switchable. We’re using him a number of ways defensively. Then he gets out and runs. He’s all over the offensive glass. So, he’s made tremendous strides. He’s been fantastic. Just great energy.”
Borrego also credited the team’s other frontcourt players.
“Carlo brings great energy. Obviously, Queen brings a different dimension to the lineup when we go big again,” Borrego said. “But I thought all our bigs played fantastic tonight, but he was really impressive.”
Pelicans back on the court
New Orleans returns to action Wednesday (March 18) night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
