Today in Boston Celtics history,, the team has had considerable success against regular-season opponents since winning Banner 17. Most notably, the Celtics triumphed over the Miami Heat with a score of 101-96 on March 19, 2014, as Boston commenced its rebuilding phase.
The Heat were without their star forward LeBron James, and were caught off guard by the Massachusetts franchise at TD Garden, with late-game contributions from point guard Rajon Rondo and forward Jeff Green ensuring the victory for Boston. Even though James was sidelined due to a bout of back spasms, this should not diminish the win, as both Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh played against a Celtics team that was outmatched even without LeBron – and ultimately lost.
Boston was carried by Avery Bradley’s 23 points and 18 points from Brandon Bass.
