Forward LeBron James and guard Luka Dončić combined for 70 points to help the Los Angeles Lakers win their seventh straight game

The winning streak continues.

Guard Luka Dončić dropped 40 points while forward LeBron James dropped 30 points to power the Los Angeles Lakers to a 124-116 victory over the Houston Rockets — their seventh consecutive victory and 10th in 11 games.

“I felt pretty good in the game,” James said. “I’m happy I’m able to make a few plays to help our team win.”

Furthermore, James recorded five rebounds, bringing his career total to 12,002, becoming the 23rd player in NBA history to record 12,000 rebounds. Additionally, he went 13-14 from the field, which tied his career best single-game shooting effort — he last went 13-14 with in the Miami Heat in 2013.

“The fact that he’s 41, he’s still as athletic or more athletic than about 95% of the league — still — and he’s probably, I think everybody would agree, has lost a little athleticism,” Lakers guard Austin Reaves said. “It’s just insane to think. It’s absolutely mind-blowing.”

The game was a back-and-forth battle all night long as the Lakers were down 92-89 entering the fourth quarter. With a little less than 10 minutes left, James made back-to-back shots as the Lakers scored six straight to go up 102-96.

The Rockets responded, though, as they scored nine straight of their own to take the lead back 105-102. Both teams then went point for point before the Lakers made back-to-back alley oops — first one being Dončić to forward Rui Hachimura and second one being Dončić to James — and then Dončić made a 3 to go up 120-111.

The Lakers held it down for the remaining time to secure the victory and their second consecutive win over the Rockets. The Lakers’ next game is today at 5 p.m. against the Miami Heat in Miami, and they enter the contest ranking third in the Western Conference.
