CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The Hornets retired Dell Curry’s No. 30 jersey during a halftime ceremony in Charlotte on Thursday night.
Curry became just the second player in franchise history, joining the late Bobby Phills, to have his number retired.
The team said the ceremony honored Curry’s “extraordinary impact on the organization, the Charlotte community, and the game of basketball.”

Curry was joined by his family at center court during halftime of the Hornets-Magic game at Spectrum Center on Thursday, March 20. At his side were his wife, Nicki; his three children, Stephen, Seth, and Sydel; six grandchildren; and his mother, Juanita.
Before his jersey was raised to the rafters, a video tribute highlighting Curry’s legacy played on the videoboard, and he addressed the crowd.
“Charlotte has been home to me and shaped my life for more than three decades,” Curry said. “To see my number raised into the rafters, in front of the fans who have supported me from the very beginning, is an honor beyond anything I ever imagined.”
