Jerami Grant scored a game-high 26 points, Deni Avdija finished with 25 points and eight rebounds, and Donovan Clingan added 21 points and 12 rebounds as the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 108-104 Friday night at Target Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Jrue Holiday continued his solid play with 12 points and 12 assists.
Portland (35-36) got off to a great start and built an 18-point lead in the second quarter. Minnesota (43-28) closed the first half on an 11-2 run and the Trail Blazers took a 68-59 lead into the locker room.
The Trail Blazers went cold in the third quarter and the Timberwolves took advantage as they opened the third on a 20-11 run to tie the game.
Grant was the difference in the fourth as he hit two big threes and two big free throws to secure the win. He hit a three-pointer with 1:40 remaining to give Portland a lead at 103-100. After Minnesota regained the lead by a point, Grant hit another three to give Portland a two-point lead with 22.2 seconds to play. He later hit two free throws to put the Blazers up by four. Grant scored the last eight points in the game for Portland.
Up Next- The Trail Blazers finish their five-game road trip Sunday in Denver against the Nuggets. The game is scheduled to tip off at 2:00 PM.
Chad’s Take- The Blazers still have work to do as they approach the play-in tournament, but that was a big win against a quality opponent.
