Since the trade deadline, March 21 was circled on the calendar for the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks. Saturday’s contest in Atlanta marked the first chance for Jonathan Kuminga to suit up against his former team, the Warriors.
While the Hawks rolled to a blowout win over the short-handed Warriors, the former No. 7 pick in the 2021 NBA draft had a quiet performance. Kuminga played 22 minutes off the bench for Atlanta, registering two points on 1-of-9 shooting from the field with four boards, two assists, a steal and two turnovers.

Despite his quiet performance on Saturday against the Warriors, Kuminga’s tenure with the Hawks has gotten off to an impressive start. While he’s had to miss some games due to injuries, Kuminga is averaging 13 points on 50% shooting from the field with seven boards and 2.6 assists in 22.4 minutes per game for the Hawks.
In his debut with the Hawks, Kuminga tallied 27 points off the bench. In seven games with the Hawks, Kuminga has notched 16 or more points in four games. Kuminga scored 16 or more points six times with the Warriors during the 2025-26 campaign before being traded.

Kuminga and the Warriors will have to wait till next season to meet again on the court. The Warriors will have the chance to welcome the 2021 NBA champion back to the Bay Area during the 2026-27 season.
