One of the most fun things about Duke Basketball is the team banquet at the end of the season.
Once an intimate affair with the team and a relatively small number of fans, in the Krzyzewski era it grew to something much larger and one of the add-ons was team videos.
Each senior got one and sometimes they were really great. For instance, although this came when he was a coach, when Quin Snyder took the Missouri job, he spun on the screen from a player in a Duke uniform to a young coach in a dark business suit. He dabbed away tears as the video concluded.
Tyler Thornton’s, like so many others, was a small masterpiece.
It underscored his strengths as a player: he played with relentless effort, optimism and strong leadership.
As it turns out, on the most recent Brotherhood Podcast we linked to Friday, when Thornton was being recruited, he told Mike Krzyzewski that his dream was to become a coach at Duke.
Now that dream is coming true. How cool is that?
