Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets are back in action on Wednesday night. They are on the road against an Anthony Edwards-less Minnesota Timberwolves side. Durant and Co. are looking to make amends following their unexpected 132-124 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Monday.

Durant has been his usual dominant self in his first season with the Rockets. The former NBA MVP took his talents to Houston during the offseason in a historic blockbuster trade involving the Phoenix Suns.

Entering Wednesday’s matchup against the Wolves, Durant has produced averages of 25.9 points on 52.0% shooting, 5.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 36.5 minutes per contest. The 37-year-old is also knocking down 2.4 triples per game on a highly efficient 41.1% clip.

Thanks in part to Durant’s strong play, the Rockets headed into Wednesday’s contest with a 43-28 record and sixth in the Western Conference. They are behind the fifth-seeded Wolves by just half a game.

Durant marked another career milestone on Wednesday night. The NBA took to social media during the game to announce the 16-time All-Star’s latest feat.

“Congrats to @KDTrey5 of the @HoustonRockets for moving up to 8th on the all-time FIELD GOALS MADE list!” the NBA posted on X.

Durant climbed to eighth in the all-time field goals list, passing the great Dirk Nowitzki. Durant is now chasing Hall of Fame big man Shaquille O’Neal for the No. 7 spot. As of writing, the Rockets superstar is 160 field goals behind the Los Angeles Lakers icon.

It’s a tightly contested affair in Minnesota thus far. The Timberwolves are up 44-43 at the half. Durant has nine points on 2-of-11 shooting, two rebounds, two assists and one triple after 18 minutes played in the first half.
