Eddie Johnson calls out Anthony Edwards over comments from 2022 amid playoff elimination.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were on a phenomenal run in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, at least before locking horns with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Being the superior team, OKC had no problem in dealing with the Timberwolves as they eliminated them in just five games.

Anthony Edwards, who is the face of the Timberwolves, had a somewhat underwhelming series against the Thunder. As expected, he is facing heavy criticism from fans and former players alike.

Antman is one of the most beloved NBA players right now, and a huge reason behind it is his ability to talk trash.

The Timberwolves superstar did the same in 2022 when the Phoenix Suns suffered a blowout defeat in Game 7 of the second round against the Dallas Mavericks. Edwards labeled the defeat as a ‘disgrace.’

Well, Ant’s comments from 2022 have come back to haunt him and former Suns forward Eddie Johnson made sure to point that out via X.

“This right here is why you can’t talk until you win a chip yourself. 9 points in First Quarter. We remembered,” Johnson tweeted.

Johnson was referring to the Timberwolves’ 124-94 blowout loss in Game 5 of the conference finals against the Thunder. The T-Wolves scored just 9 points in the first quarter.

The terrible first-quarter performance set up the Timberwolves for an impossible task of making a comeback as they were sent home by OKC.

Edwards remains unbothered by WCF loss

Many believed Edwards must be feeling sad over facing WCF elimination in back-to-back seasons. However, Edwards focused more on his teammate Mike Conley than the defeat.

So much so that Edwards remains unbothered by the defeat as he believes his entire career is ahead of him.

“We tried last year, but we couldn’t get it. We tried this year, and we’re going to try again next year. Hurting is a terrible word to use. I’m good,” Edwards claimed.

Sure, Ant is just 23 years old, but his post-elimination comments have certainly rubbed some sections of the Timberwolves fanbase the wrong way.
