The Houston Rockets found themselves on the wrong side of history Wednesday night.
The Rockets blew a 13-point overtime lead against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center, falling 110-108. It was one of the most stunning collapses in league history. The loss marked the largest blown lead in overtime since detailed play-by-play tracking began in 1997.
All-Stars Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun each poured in 30 points. However, the Rockets’ offense went cold at the worst possible moment. Their poor defense down the stretch allowed a massive comeback for the home team.
Following the loss, a frustrated fan base took to social media, directing their anger squarely at head coach Ime Udoka.

Houston looked firmly in control when they surged ahead 108-95 in overtime. Rockets fans watched in dismay as Minnesota closed the game on a stunning 15-0 run in just over two minutes.
Jaden McDaniels led the charge, finishing with 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting. Julius Randle put the finishing touch on the comeback, draining the go-ahead jumper with 8.8 seconds left.
Adding insult to injury, Minnesota pulled off the historic rally without several key contributors.
Anthony Edwards, their best player, did not suit up. Rudy Gobert fouled out at the end of regulation, while Naz Reid was ejected in overtime.
Rockets fans boiled over on X, pointing out Udoka’s inability to make adjustments when it mattered most.
“Why isn’t Ime Udoka on the hot seat? How many games is he allowed to give away while we still believe he’s a great coach?” a comment on X read.
“Hopefully this game is the nail in the Ime Udoka coffin. When a team is this consistently inept at execution, you can only point fingers at so many players before you run out of players to blame. KD-Sengun-Amen playing too well to burn seasons on this loser,” said another.
“Ime Udoka shouldn’t just be fired. He should be locked up away from decent normal people,” demanded a user.
“How far are we from firing this hilarious and incompetent Ime Udoka who says nothing but: we ain’t tough enough, we ain’t aggressive enough, we ain’t defending enough,” another said.
“Before I go, if Ime Udoka is still the head coach of this team next season, I’m switching fandoms,” declared a disgruntled supporter.
“Fire Ime Udoka,” a user wrote.
Udoka is currently in his third season with the Rockets. Before joining Houston, he led the Boston Celtics to the Eastern Conference Championship in 2022. He finished fourth in the Coach of the Year vote that season.
