Michigan State basketball is in Washington D.C. for the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament, where the Spartans will face off with the Connecticut Huskies in the Sweet 16. Upon their arrival, the Spartans held their traditional open practice on Thursday, with a media session that ensued and UConn did the same.

With Michigan State loading for the Huskies, UConn head coach Dan Hurley spoke about the Spartans, previewing the matchup. Hurley has never been shy about showing his love for Tom Izzo, and he continued that effect towards Izzo and the Spartans before the Friday matchup.

He also took the Izzo approach in talking about the softness society has gotten to.

“Society has gotten soft in a lot of ways… The real world is tough and cruel… I’m preparing my players for life.”
