The Dallas Mavericks delivered a body-blow to the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.
Cooper Flagg scored a game-high 24 points and Naji Marshall added 19 points and five steals as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 100-93 Friday night in Portland.
Mistakes proved costly for the Trail Blazers. Portland committed 25 turnovers in the game. They finished -22 in points off turnovers. In addition to the mistakes, Portland missed 10 free throws.
To make matters worse, Jerami Grant (Calf) and Robert Williams III (Low Back) left the game and did not return. Following the game, Coach Splitter said Grant would under go imaging on his calf after feeling a “pop” and said his concern was at “100%.”
Jrue Holiday led Portland (37-38) with 23 points and Deni Avdija added 20 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
The Mavericks took control of the game early in the first with a 10-0 run to take a 26-16 lead midway thru the first. Portland trailed by 10 after the first and were -11 in points off turnovers and made just 7-of-20 from the field in the opening quarter.
In the second, Dallas used a 21-9 run to take their largest lead of the game at 17. Portland used a 14-2 run to close the gap to five at halftime.
Dallas took a 79-76 led into the fourth and led by as many as seven but Portland used a 7-0 run to tie the game at 92 with 2:25 remaining in the game. The Mavericks put the game away with an 8-1 run and win 100-93.
Up Next- The Trail Blazers will finish their four-game homestand Sunday afternoon against the Washington Wizards. The game is scheduled to tip off at 3:00 PM.
