When most big names this year have ended up injured, Cooper Flagg has been all fit and fine for the Dallas Mavericks. Unfortunately, despite some exceptional performances from the youngster, Dallas hasn’t been able to hit the right notes this season. And that is why head coach Jason Kidd is currently prioritizing a personal milestone for the 19-year-old.
Currently, the Mavericks’ small forward is fighting for the NBA Rookie of the Year award. Averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists, the Maine native is looking on course to win the award. But while speaking on the same, head coach Kidd pointed out that Flagg receiving the award was one of the Mavericks’ main priorities.
“Yeah, it’s a big priority. It’s a big award — you’re only a rookie once. Cooper has to do his part, and he is. He’s having a historic year,” said Kidd.
