PHOENIX – After a ludicrous shooting first quarter from the Phoenix Suns vs. the Utah Jazz on Saturday night, the franchise is starting to unlock its secret weapon ahead of next month’s playoffs. Phoenix took 19 three-point attempts in the first quarter and continued the trend the next frame to end the first half shooting 10-of-28 from beyond the arc and 53% overall.

Suns recent hot shooting massive lift:

In the past 10 games, the Suns are amongst the best shooting teams in the NBA. On 40.5 attempts per game, the team is making 15.8 3s per game for 39.2%. The percentage ranks sixth in the association and third in makes, behind only the Charlotte Hornets and Denver Nuggets.

Those numbers are encouraging because of the team’s extensive injury report, forcing head coach Jordan Ott to rely on reserve players to make up the loss production. The three games following the All-Star Break, Phoenix had three straight games shooting below 30% from the perimeter, causing some major concern. However, the franchise has dipped below that number once since that stretch, despite taking the second-most threes during that span.

Without center Mark Williams and mid-range sniper Dillon Brooks, the Suns have been forced to adjust its playstyle style to increase their outside shots. Guards like Jalen Green and Royce O’Neale have benefited from this new approach, in perfect time for the final nine games of the year before the Play-In begins.
