The Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball program will dominate the headlines for the 2025 NBA draft, and the list of combine invites only further emphasizes how many professional teams kept an eye on Durham this past season.
The NBA released a list of 75 prospects invited to this month’s showcase out in Chicago, including six Blue Devils and one incoming transfer who already committed to Duke.
Freshman superstar Cooper Flagg, the 18-year-old phenom who won the Wooden Award as the nation’s most outstanding player with 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game, will obviously headline the class as the presumed No. 1 overall pick. Three of his classmates will accompany him to the showcase, but only two will leave for the NBA. Fellow starters Kon Knueppel (14.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 40.6% 3PT) and Khaman Malauch (8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks) are expected lottery picks, two of the top 10 or 12 talents on the board, but sharpshooting guard Isaiah Evans (6.8 points and 41.6% 3PT) already confirmed that he would return to Duke for his sophomore campaign in 2025-26.
Duke’s two upperclassman starters from last season, junior Tyrese Proctor and senior Sion James, both made the invite list as well as projected second-round picks. Proctor averaged a career-high 12.4 points and made a personal-best 40.5% of his 3-pointers while James averaged 8.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in his first year with the program after transferring from Tulane.
One more Duke Blue Devil made the invite list, although he’s yet to play a game in front of the Cameron Crazies. Washington State guard Cedric Coward committed to Duke through the transfer portal earlier this week, but he emphasized in his announcement that he would continue to explore the draft as a potential path. He averaged 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.7 blocks in six games with the Cougars last year.
The draft combine takes place from May 11-18.
