Memphis Grizzlies wing Jaylen Wells will undergo a procedure to stabilize his right big toe, the team announced on March 29.
The Grizzlies won’t provide a timeline until the procedure is done, but Wells’ season is expected to come to an end.

Wells suffered what the Grizzlies described as a tendon avulsion fracture in the toe during a March 23 game against the Atlanta Hawks. He has been seen on the bench in recent days with crutches.
Wells has made a mark as one of the team’s most durable players. After playing in 79 games last season, he played in 69 of 71 matchups before his injury this season.
In 69 starts, he averaged 12.5 points and made 35.3% of 3-pointers.

Injuries had decimated any hopes the Grizzlies (25-49) had of competing for a playoff spot. Ja Morant, Santi Aldama, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Brandon Clarke, Zach Edey and Scotty Pippen Jr. all already had been ruled out for the season by the team.

The Grizzlies will return to action on March 30 against the Phoenix Suns. Eight players are currently listed as out and three more as doubtful, meaning Memphis is likely to be without at least 11 players against the Suns.
