The Golden State Warriors have decided to bring back a familiar face in late March.
According to a recent news release, the Warriors have signed a 6-foot-11 ex-Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat center to another 10-day contract.
“The Warriors have signed center Ömer (oh-MIAR) Yurtseven (yurts-seven) to a second 10-day contract,” the organization announced last Wednesday.
“Yurtseven originally signed a 10-day contract with the Warriors on March 16 and has appeared in five games with Golden State, averaging 3.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 11.2 minutes in five games.”
While Yurtseven’s NBA career hasn’t been overly eventful thus far, the NC State product has played well enough to earn another temporary contract with the Dubs. Yurtseven began his professional career with the Thunder but never appeared in a game with the 2023 NBA champions.
In 2021, the Tashkent, Uzbekistan native took his talents to the Heat and was solid as a reserve with the storied Eastern Conference franchise. In 65 games with the Heat, Yurtseven averaged 4.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
More importantly, Yurtseven’s contributions helped the Heat win three consecutive playoff series in 2023 and advance to the NBA Finals.
After a short stint with Miami, the 27-year-old joined the Utah Jazz before joining the Warriors this season.
Yurtseven is averaging 2.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest with Golden State through eight games and will have a few more opportunities to prove he’s worth another deal with the seven-time NBA champions.
