INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Winston-Salem State University’s Red Sea of Sound Marching Band will perform at halftime of the Los Angeles Clippers vs. San Antonio Spurs game Thursday, April 2, at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, marking the band’s first appearance at the arena.

The performance is part of the LA Clippers’ HBCU Night presented by AT&T, an event celebrating Historically Black Colleges and Universities with live entertainment, alumni engagement, and in-arena recognition. The Red Sea of Sound is expected to showcase the energy, precision, and tradition that have made it a signature of the WSSU experience.

“This is an incredible opportunity to highlight the talent and tradition of our Red Sea of Sound on a national platform,” said Dr. Michael Magruder, director of bands. “Our students represent the very best of Winston-Salem State University, and we are proud to share that excellence with a broader audience.”

Known for its high-energy performances and musical excellence, the Red Sea of Sound plays a central role in campus life and community engagement at WSSU. Chancellor Bonita J. Brown said the performance underscores the university’s commitment to expanding visibility, deepening community engagement, and elevating the student experience.

HBCU Night offers immersive programming throughout the arena, from pregame activities to in-game recognitions, with halftime performances serving as a featured highlight.
