In recent seasons, college basketball has seen a number of big men switch teams and have an immediate impact, with Purdue’s Oscar Cluff and North Carolina’s Henri Veesaar serving as prime examples during the 2025-26 campaign. One of the top names on the market this offseason is set to be Saint Mary’s Andrew McKeever, who reportedly plans to enter the portal, per On3’s Joe Tipton.

McKeever was dominant in limited minutes for the Gaels, averaging 8.2 points and a WCC-leading 9.2 rebounds per game. Even more impressive, McKeever started just 10 games and came off the bench in 23, finishing with just 23.2 minutes per night.

Standing 7-foot-2 and 285 pounds, the Livermore, CA, native committed to Saint Mary’s as an unranked prospect in the 2023 class. He saw little time last season, but blossomed into a key piece for a Gaels squad that received an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament in 2026.

In the transfer portal, McKeever is rated as a four-star, the No. 1 center and No. 28 player overall, per 247 Sports, representing quite the rise for the Gaels big man.

Though nothing has been reported yet, there’s sure to be speculation that McKeever will follow Saint Mary’s head coach Randy Bennett to Arizona State, as he was hired following the season. McKeever joins several former Gaels that have decided to enter the portal in the wake of Bennett’s departure, joining forward Paulius Murauskas and guard Mikey Lewis.
