Anthony Edwards felt like “a kid in a candy store” upon his return after six games out injured, having helped the Minnesota Timberwolves defeat the Dallas Mavericks 124-94.
Having spent time on the sidelines due to a right knee issue, Edwards scored 17 points in 23 minutes on the court on Monday as Minnesota improved to 49-29 for the season.
Julius Randle led the way with 24 points for the Timberwolves, who also got 18 points from Ayo Dosunmu, 15 from Donte DiVincenzo and 14 from Rudy Gobert.
Asked how it felt to be back, Edwards said: “Like a kid in a candy store! I was miserable sitting out.”
But Edwards, who has averaged a career-high 29.5 points per game this season, was not part of the starting lineup after being introduced to the crowd.
With the 24-year-old requiring an ill-timed toilet break at the start of the game, it was up to Mike Conley to replace him for tip-off.
Laughing about the incident afterwards, Edwards said: “Mike had my back!

Head coach Chris Finch was full of praise for Edwards, who should get more gametime when Minnesota return to action against the Detroit Pistons on Thursday.Â
“Ant was awesome, man,” Finch said. “His defense was outstanding, and he just let the game come to him.Â
“He stayed aggressive, made quicker decisions, and things looked kind of easy for him as a result.”
