How important is it for the Boston Celtics to secure the Eastern Conference No. 2 seed heading into the 2026 NBA Playoffs? On one hand of the equation, the Celtics have a number of players dealing with some nagging injuries that could, at least in theory, become more serious ones — and have just reintegrated star forward Jayson Tatum from a serious Achilles tendon injury.

But on the other, while this version of the Celtics may be a legit title contender, they are also not the juggernaut that won it all for Boston in 2024. Having home court as deep as possible into the postseason could prove critical to hanging Banner 19 this summer.
