Former Philadelphia 76ers guard Michael Carter-Williams stepped away from the NBA after yet another injury in the 2022-23 season. He was limited to 31 games for the Orlando Magic in the 2020-21 season, missed the entirety of 2021-22, and played only four games in 2022-23 before stepping away.

Now, Carter-Williams is taking up a new sport: boxing.

After being selected No. 11 overall by the Sixers in the 2013 draft, Carter-Williams won Rookie of the Year in 2014 and played nine seasons in the league before stepping away. He made his boxing debut in a heavyweight match at Broad Street Brawl in New York. He won the match by decision so it’s a good start for MCW.

It’s a shame that Carter-Williams had his basketball career cut short as injuries took over, but he can take solace in the fact that has found a new path in life. This is a good start to a new career in sports and he can take big steps forward in boxing.
