The Dallas coach finally broke his silence about being tagged by Cuban in the NBA’s most infamous trade.
Jason Kidd has already put the past behind him regarding the highly controversial exit of Luka Doncic in Dallas.

The Mavericks head coach is no longer interested in discussing how things have ended for Doncic in the wake of Mark Cuban’s recent viral remarks that hinted at his involvement in the Slovenian superstar’s infamous trade to the Los Angeles Lakers last year.
“When are we going to move on?” Kidd said before Tuesday’s 123-99 brutal loss against the Milwaukee Bucks, via Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News. “We have to move forward. We’re focused on the present and the future and we’ve got an incredible opportunity to build.”
The former Mavericks owner and current minority owner appeared on the Intersections podcast and aired his grievances about how he regrets selling the franchise to the Adelson family.
While he also confessed that interim general manager Michael Finley wasn’t involved in the Doncic trade, Cuban offered intriguing words that suggested Kidd’s role in the former franchise star’s departure.
Kidd revealed that he had already called Cuban upon the release of the podcast, stamping his stance that he and the Mavericks’ focus right now is to build a bright future with reigning No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg leading the way.
“I truly believe the Mavs fans have built before and will build again,” Kidd said. “And we want them to be a part of this build. And so the things that are going on between two owners is between the two owners. I think we have a great owner in Patrick and he’s going to give us every resource to build a championship team.
“Out of respect to Cuban, he helped me and my family. We won a championship together. The two owners will figure it out. I truly believe that we have to focus on the present and the future. We’ve got a great opportunity.”
Doncic has thrived in his new chapter in Los Angeles, becoming a league MVP candidate while averaging a career-best 33.7 points with 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks are bound for a brutal losing season with a 24-51 record. Anthony Davis, whom they acquired for the Doncic trade, was notably dealt to the Washington Wizards from the past trade deadline.
