The Chicago Bulls made the decision to release Jaden Ivey on Monday, following social media rants. Over the course of the past few weeks, Ivey has gone on rants which have gained the attention of fans and those around the NBA.

But Monday’s rant where he called the LGBTQ+ community unrighteous was enough to get the attention of Bulls’ brass. They made the decision to release him and move on after they acquired him via a trade at the deadline.

Ivey played just four games with the Bulls before suffering a knee injury that would keep him out the rest of the season. However, there were reportedly signs of things in the locker room that is coming to light. And his behavior drew some concerns from his teammates per a report.

On Tuesday, Chicago Bulls beat reporter Joe Cowley wrote a piece on Ivey that explained more about the situation. And there was some damning stuff in the article in the Chicago Sun-Times.

Cowley noted that Ivey’s behavior caught the attention of his teammates and that this was an issue dating back to his days with the Detroit Pistons.

Before Ivey even stepped foot on Chicago soil there were rumblings from Detroit that the shooting guard was a “preacher.” They undersold it. His interviews became sermons in which he was asking reporters if they’ve been “saved” and if they “fornicated before marriage.”

My bad, brah, I was just checking in on how your knee felt.

It’s great that he has religion, but the relationship between reporter and player isn’t built like that after just few interactions. While reporters were left feeling like they didn’t need to be preached to from a 20-something kid a few years removed from walking around with a silver spoon in his mouth on the AAU circuit, his Bulls teammates were left shaking their heads at just the latest distraction provided by their front office.

Not one Bulls player was shedding a tear for Ivey’s removal from the roster.

That’s some pretty important details. Now that this is out, it does make more sense as to why the Bulls released him. But it’s also an indictment on the Bulls’ front office on a miss at the trade deadline, again.
