The New York Knicks fell short against the Houston Rockets in Texas on Tuesday, March 31.

Once again, the team was without its veteran guard, Landry Shamet.

Lately, Shamet has been dealing with a right knee contusion. The veteran sharpshooter hasn’t been on the court since the Knicks’ March 20 game against the Brooklyn Nets.

At the time, Shamet logged his third start in five games. He checked in for 21 minutes, scoring just three points and producing three rebounds, one assist, and two steals, before going out with his setback.

Since then, Shamet has missed five games.

As the Knicks embark on a road trip, which will include a fourth-straight away game on Wednesday night in Memphis, Tennessee, Shamet is and has been present. Recently, Shamet started practicing again.

While Knicks head coach Mike Brown couldn’t put an official return date in place for Shamet on Tuesday night, Knicks insider Stefan Bondy suggested that Wednesday’s action against the Memphis Grizzlies should not be ruled out.

Shamet is currently playing through his second season with the Knicks.

The 29-year-old is a former first-round pick out of Wichita State. He started his career with the Philadelphia 76ers after becoming their 26th overall pick.

Shamet was traded midway through his rookie year, landing with the Los Angeles Clippers. After one year in Brooklyn, Shamet spent two seasons with the Phoenix Suns. He had a 46-game run with the Washington Wizards before embarking on his first season with the Knicks last year.

Over the 2025 offseason, Shamet re-signed with the Knicks. This season, he has appeared in 46 games. Shamet has produced 9.6 points per game, while shooting 43.9% from the field and hit on 38.8% of his threes.

The Knicks are looking to climb out of a three-game losing streak on Wednesday. They are tipping off against the Grizzlies at 8 PM ET.
