Tyler Tanner nearly made one of the greatest shots in the history of March Madness.
But the beyond-halfcourt prayer flung up by the Vanderbilt guard against Nebraska went in and out, ending Vandy’s season and leaving Tanner heartbroken.
And with the season over, Tanner has to decide what’s next. He could keep playing for the Commodores. He could try the NBA. Or he could think about the transfer portal, where he’d likely have a bunch of big-money suitors.
Some fans believe he’s transferring, but that’s not reality.

Is Tyler Tanner transferring?
There’s no indication that Tanner is leaving Vanderbilt.
There’s still time for him to make such a decision, but the current rumor isn’t based in fact.
Instead, it’s based on this post from an account impersonating college basketball insider Jon Rothstein:
BREAKING: Vanderbilt guard Tyler Tanner is expected to forgo the NBA draft and enter the transfer portal.
Averaged 19.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 5.1 assists.
A big fish in the transfer portal.
Significant SEC news.

You can see the handle (@NotJ0NRoth) isn’t the real account.
Tanner, as those accurate stats in the post show, would be a huge move for anyone who could add him.
At the moment, though, Vandy certainly would like to keep him. They had a great season with Tanner leading the charge in his second college season.
He may have an NBA future, but he’s not a big dude, so maybe he sticks around in college and continues to be a star for a while.
For now, though, nothing to fear yet. Tanner hasn’t announced any kind of intention of leaving.
