With only two weeks left in the 2025-26 regular season, the MVP race has heated up. You can’t go a day without seeing someone’s opinion on who should win the prestigious award. After it looked like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander would lap the rest of the field, Victor Wembanyama has made up ground.
While Gilgeous-Alexander won’t list out the reasons why he should win the award back-to-back years, his Thunder teammates gladly will. Unlike other candidates, the reigning MVP prefers to let his game do the talking. That said, others on the squad have proudly voiced their support.
Two of those are Ajay Mitchell and Aaron Wiggins. Both OKC role players have had front-row seats to Gilgeous-Alexander’s epic years. Not just with the glitz and glamor of game days, but also the behind-the-scenes work he puts in to be a walking 60-win machine by himself.
Here’s what Mitchell and Wiggins said about Gilgeous-Alexander’s MVP case and why it’s really a no-brainer:
Aaron Wiggins
“You gotta look at the body of work. Throughout the season, he’s carried us to victories. In the same sense, he’s been the most clutch player in the NBA. If you look at the body of work from this entire season. He’s the best player on the court every single night — from literally game one, game two, all the way to last game where he’s the best player on the court every single night.

“He’s giving us that extra edge just to kinda create the opportunity for us tp win. The load he’s carried throughout the entire season. He’s obviously the MVP for the second time in a row. I don’t think there’s too much of a conversation if you look at the body of work. He’s not chasing stats. He’s out there playing to make sure his team is the best. He’s doing it while being the best player on the court.”
Ajay Mitchell
“I don’t know what else to say except he’s the best player in the league. To me, it’s pretty obvious he’s the MVP. I don’t think there has to be any arguments about that.”
