—– On the day Tom Dundon assumed control of the Trail Blazers as their new owner, the team one their biggest game in years by surprising the Los Angeles Clippers at Intuit Dome.
Jrue Holiday scored a game-high 30 points and Deni Avdija finished with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists as the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 114-104 Tuesday night at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
It was the biggest win for the franchise since 2021 when Portland was last in the playoffs and only the second win for the Blazers in LA against the Clippers in last seven seasons.
Toumani Camara added 17 points and seven rebounds and Scoot Henderson scored 15 for Portland.
Portland (39-38) used a 16-8 run in the first quarter to take a 34-31 lead into the second. The Blazers took control of the game in the second with a 16-2 run and led by 16 at halftime.
Los Angeles (39-37) cut the Portland lead to eight in the third but Portland closed the quarter on a 15-6 run and led by 17 entering the fourth.
The Blazers controlled the fourth and led by double-digits the rest of the way.
With the win, Portland is now a half-game behind the Los Angles for the 8th spot in the Western Conference play-in standings. The two teams will meet again at Moda Center on April 10th.
Notes- Trail Blazers new owner Tom Dundon was in attendance Tuesday night. His first game as the official owner of the franchise. The team will hold a press conference Thursday at 3:00 PM before their home game against the New Orleans Pelicans to officially welcome him as the team’s new owner. We will carry the press conference live at 3:00 PM on Rip City Radio 620.
