Perhaps nobody else had a more eventful April Fool’s Day than Thomas Sorber. Even though the 20-year-old has been sidelined this season with a torn ACL, the Oklahoma City Thunder have made sure to mandate the usual NBA rookie chores assigned.

After the Thunder wrapped up practice, Sorber experienced some fun, lighthearted hazing. His OKC teammates stuffed his car with packing peanuts. And to the brim. To the point that when Isaiah Hartenstein opened up a pair of car doors, it just flowed out like an avalanche.

Hartenstein documented the whole prank. Apparently, Sorber was late to some meetings — which warranted the joke. Jalen Williams, Lu Dort, Cason Wallace, Jaylin Williams and Isaiah Joe were all also in attendance.

Funny to see that happen. Sorber has been in the background this season, rehabbing from a torn ACL. Such a bummer, too. He had his lone collegiate season at Georgetown cut short due to foot surgery in Feb. 2025. So it’s been a minute since he’s suited up for a game.

We’ll see what Sorber shows in the upcoming 2026 Summer League. That will likely be his first real shot at playing games for the Thunder. Until then, though, he’ll be limited to pregame work and being on the bench for OKC’s back-to-back ambitions.
